Dulbecco's PBS (DPBS) or Phosphate-buffered Saline (PBS) is a buffer solution used in numerous biological applications, such as for maintaining pH, diluting substances, or rinsing of cell containers. It maintains the milieu in a viable physiological range to sustain cells.
DPBS is non-toxic and provides cells with water and inorganic ions necessary for cell metabolism. The osmolarity and ion concentrations of PBS solution is meant to mimic the isotonic milieu of the human body. This formulation of DPBS comes in a 1X concentration without Ca & Mg and Phenol Red.
