Capricorn's SEREXIS™ 180 is a defined serum alternative developed as a functional replacement for traditional fetal bovine serum. It is designed to deliver FBS-like performance under controlled and reproducible conditions and can be introduced directly into established workflows at standard serum concentrations, without requiring workflow adaptations.
The formulation supports reliable cell growth, adherence, proliferation, viability and morphology across a broad range of cell types. These include A549, HeLa, MDCK and Vero cell lines, as well as primary immune cells, keratinocytes and fibroblasts. SEREXIS™ 180 contains essential trace elements, defined proteins and selected, highly purified animal-derived protein fractions. This homogeneous composition helps reduce variability while supporting robust cell culture performance.
Relevant components are obtained from traceable sources and gamma-irradiated to enhance viral safety and mitigate potential risks in sensitive or regulated environments. For cell types with increased lipid or fatty acid requirements, including hybridoma cultures, SEREXIS™ 180 can be supplemented with Lipid Mix 180, Cat. No. LIX-10ML. This chemically defined lipid supplement supports membrane synthesis, cellular metabolism and proliferation.
