Capricorn Scientific's SEREXIS™ 180 is a defined serum alternative developed as a functional replacement for traditional fetal bovine serum. It is designed to provide FBS-like performance under controlled and reproducible conditions and can be used directly at standard serum concentrations, allowing straightforward integration into established cell culture workflows.

The formulation supports reliable cell growth, adherence, proliferation, viability and morphology across a range of cell types. These include A549, HeLa, MDCK and Vero cell lines, as well as primary immune cells, keratinocytes and fibroblasts. SEREXIS™ 180 contains essential trace elements, defined proteins and selected, highly purified animal-derived protein fractions to support robust cell growth while maintaining a homogeneous culture environment.

Animal-derived components are obtained from traceable sources and gamma-irradiated to mitigate potential risks in sensitive and regulated environments. This controlled sourcing and treatment contribute to enhanced viral safety and improved reproducibility between cultures.

For cell types with increased lipid or fatty acid requirements, including hybridoma cultures, SEREXIS™ 180 can be combined with Lipid Mix 180, Cat. No. LIX-3ML. This chemically defined lipid supplement supports membrane synthesis, cellular metabolism and proliferation.
