Thermo Scientific's RevertAid Reverse Transcriptase - 10,000 U is a recombinant M-MuLV reverse transcriptase supplied as 10,000 U. The enzyme has RNA-dependent and DNA-dependent polymerase activity. Its RNase H activity is specific to RNA in RNA–DNA hybrids and is significantly lower than that of avian myeloblastosis virus reverse transcriptase.
RevertAid Reverse Transcriptase supports efficient synthesis of full-length first-strand cDNA up to 13 kb. Its optimum activity is at 42°C, and it remains active up to 50°C. The enzyme can incorporate modified nucleotides, including Cy3-, Cy5-, rhodamine-, aminoallyl- and fluorescein-labelled nucleotides.
Listed applications include first-strand cDNA synthesis for RT-PCR and real-time RT-PCR, cDNA synthesis for cloning and expression, generation of labelled cDNA probes for microarrays, DNA labelling and RNA analysis by primer extension. The enzyme is produced from E. coli cells carrying a cloned fragment of the pol gene encoding Moloney murine leukaemia virus reverse transcriptase.
