ToxiLight Assay Kit - 500 tests is a bioluminescent, non-destructive cytolysis assay kit designed to measure the release of adenylate kinase (AK) from damaged cells. AK is released into the culture medium when cells die. The assay converts ADP to ATP through the action of AK, after which ATP is measured using the firefly luciferase reaction.
Because the assay measures AK released into the supernatant, cell lysis is not required for the main cytotoxicity measurement. Supernatant samples can be taken repeatedly over time without disrupting the cells, making the kit suitable for kinetic analysis of cell death and for workflows where other tests may still be performed on the original cells.
The assay components for AK detection are combined in a single reagent. The kit provides a detection limit of 10 cells per microwell, a dynamic range of more than five orders of magnitude, and extended signal stability for batch processing in high-throughput screening applications. This kit format provides 500 tests.
